THIOGUANINE ORAL (THIOGUANINE) HOW MEDICINE IS ADMINISTERED? TOP Use this medicine exactly as directed on the label, unless instructed differently by your doctor * Drink several glasses of WATER during the day, unless otherwise directed by your doctor. * Supportive care (hydration, urine alkalinization, and prophylactic allopurinol) must be taken to prevent hyperuricemia or tumor lysis syndrome. WARNINGS/PRECAUTIONS: TOP * This medicine is CONTRAINDICATED for use during pregnancy. CALL YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY IF PREGNANT or intend to become pregnant. * Women of childbearing potential and men must use effective CONTRACEPTION during treatment * If nausea and vomiting occurs, do not discontinue taking medication unless advised by your doctor. * It is not known if this drug is excreted in breast milk. Notify your doctor if you are breastfeeding. Stop taking this medicine and notify your doctor AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience: Unusual bleeding or bruising; High uric acid blood level; Sore throat; Vomiting; Joint pain; Yellowing of eyes or skin; Fever; Swelling of feet or lower legs. Other Common Side Effects: TOP Supression of blood cell production; Liver toxicity (yellow eyes or skin); Nausea; Mouth ulcers; Decreased appetite; Gastric or intestinal ulcers. Other Common Side Effects: If symptoms are mild but do not go away or are bothersome, check with your doctor. IF ANY OF THE ABOVE SIDE EFFECTS IS SEVERE, CALL YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY.
